Mac OS X recently published a hint on how to pump up your superdrive with some new firmware.
The summary: it’s dangerous, but 12″ and 15″ powerbook drives can theoretically burn DVDs at 2x, CDs at 16x, and read DVD-RWs. 17″ powerbooks benefit too, but if you want to “downgrade” you will lose the ability to read DVD-RWs. Read the comments and the original website before installing anything.
