I recently initiated repairs on 2 rather damaged guitars I own. I know a couple of luthiers here in NC that could probably do a right good job on these pieces, but I’m poor and eager to learn, so I decided to go it alone. Two resources that I have used are ones that I found on the internet, mainly because I’m too poor to buy books on a whim. Here are their linkies:

bryankimsey.com
frets.com

Using the information from these two pages, I’ve made significant and, I must admit, surprisingly high-quality repairs on one of my guitars so far; what I expected to culminate in an unplayable shred of wood has instead wound up producing, so far, a rather nice-looking guitar with good tone; the only step left is to tune for intonation (in other words, manipulate the guitar such that each string is in tune relative to the others.)
