So, Lauren and I still don’t have internet access at our apartment.
The good way of looking at it is that we’ve saved 5 months of payments, or a conservative $30 x 5 = $150.
We’ve been using mom’s Road Runner account, but the wireless access has been really slow. Like, 3k/sec slow.
Lo and behold, the latest Linksys firmware update speeds up this BEFW11S4 router LIKE NO OTHER. We upgraded from 1.45.3 to 1.50.10 and must be benefitting from the “Modified buffering for improved performance” change in the CHANGELOG.
I’m also using the speed up safari hint from Mac OS X Hints, which I haven’t noticed before.
(Between our old firmware and the slow internet at various coffeeshops in town, I had thought the problem might be my wireless card!)
