with the bus, you front-load the stress

I took the Winston-Salem bus home from work, route #16! It’s scheduled to leave work anywhere from 4:45 – 4:58 PM, and it came at 4:55.

I left work early, at 4:45, to find a place to wait. The bus ride preparation–especially for a route I’ve not taken much–stresses me OUT. I worry that the bus has gone already, and it’ll be another hour, and I’ll have to go back inside and sit. And that people will see me waiting and feel obliged to offer me a ride.

Once on, though, the worry melts. I don’t have to concentrate on traffic, or getting in accidents, only one other passenger was on the bus, there’s some ridiculo 64 degree (Fahrenheit) A/C action going on, I get off at the last stop…

So, I’m pumped. It will be tricky to figure out how to make an appropriate exit from work but the ride itself is nice.

  1. I need to discover some optimized bus line to take to campus; I’ll be moving soon, and walking distance will be a thing of the past…
