Getting Things Done

Filed under: GTD — John @ 11:30 pm

I’ve been in GTD stride this week. I’ve done about 50 things on my to-do list (~20% of all tasks) in the last two days!

  1. I’ve found that occasionally I’m much more efficient at getting things done than I normally am. Sometimes that can be explained by external influences (a hard deadline, working on something I enjoy, etc.). Other times, nothing obvious is different. I’m not entirely sure what the difference is, but I think it might be dependent on how early I get up in the morning. If I get up at 8 or 9 and then work until 1 and take a nap before finishing up in the afternoon, I’m much more productive than if I sleep in and only start working in the afternoon. I think there are more distractions in the evening and my body is gearing down for sleep after that.

Too bad getting up early is sometimes really hard, because if I have too much trouble getting up I’m no more productive in the morning than any other time.
