Lauren bought her iPhone on Friday at around 6:30 pm; she was eighth in line .. She waited for me to come home after a work thing, so she started the activation process at 9:30 pm.
We got a message it would take up to 24 hours to activate, which was a bummer. We checked regularly until around 2pm Saturday, at which point we called AT&T. Their phone system said they needed info from us, so we talked with a rep who said “I’ve never seen that error before” and told us to contact Apple.
We then called Apple for like 45 minutes and they told us it was AT&T’s bad… So we called back AT&T and they said our account activation had been put “on hold” probably because of first dude we talked to. They said they were going to “red ticket” our activation which meant they were going to resubmit it. Dude said at 5:30 PM Saturday to wait (another) 24h.
At 6:30 am Sunday we got an email that AT&T wanted us to call them. We called a little after noon (today–Sunday) and got “Erin” (sp?). She spent an hour and a half on the phone with us: she canceled our order, helped us resubmit via iTunes which took us like an hour, and then she immediately activated our account. Lauren’s iPhone now works! Finally! We thanked Erin and her supervisor for their dedication.
