Lauren and I live downtown. This last weekend there was a Heavy Metal festival in town, a half block from us, as there is every year. For some reason Lauren and I are really good at avoiding the “First Friday” festivities, but we WITHOUT FAIL are in town for the Heavy Metal festival. Most of the concert’s not that loud, but it has its moments.
Well, last night at around midnight I guess the festival was over, and they still wanted to have fun, so somebody started setting off firecrackers. Really loud ones. I’m pretty sure we heard the remnants hitting our roof as they fired successively less powerful fireworks over a 15 minute period.
We’re glad we’ll be leaving soon! Sometimes downtown’s really fun, but sometimes it’s “is that a riot?” scary.
